Free FBX Viewer Online
Drop an FBX file below to turn it, zoom in, and check its triangle count and size. It all happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.
Your files never leave your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
What is an FBX file?
FBX is a 3D format owned by Autodesk. It is a usual way to move characters, props, and scenes between modeling apps and game engines, and it can hold shapes, materials, skeletons, and animation.
Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, and Mixamo export FBX, and Unity and Unreal Engine import it.
An FBX can hold a skeleton and animation. This viewer shows the model in its first pose and does not play animation.
How to view an FBX file
Drop the FBX file on the viewer above, or choose it from your device. The model opens in a moment and fills the frame.
Drag to orbit around your FBX model, and scroll or pinch to zoom. The Corner, Front, Side, and Top buttons jump to a standard view.
Shaded shows the colors and embedded pictures from the file. If the pictures are saved outside the FBX, the model shows plain.
Checking an FBX from a game or animation tool
FBX files from game and animation tools are often made in centimeters, and the file says so in its settings. The viewer shows that unit beside the size, so a person that reads 180 cm is about 1.8 meters tall. Check it before you move the model into another app.
One FBX can hold many parts: a body, clothes, props, and more. Turn the model around to check that none are missing or placed oddly.
The triangle count adds up every mesh in the file. A character can hold more triangles than it seems, because hands, hair, and clothing are often separate meshes.
If you need the model in a format that a web page or an AR app can load, the FBX to GLB converter on this site keeps shapes, colors, textures, and animation.
What the numbers mean
The triangle count shows how detailed the surface is. More triangles mean more work for the device that draws the model, so a model that turns slowly may need a lighter export.
The size is the width, height, and depth of the box around the model. An FBX states its unit in its settings, and the viewer shows the size in that unit without converting it. If the file sets none, or one the viewer does not list, the size is shown as plain numbers.
Fixing common problems
Very old FBX versions may not open. Export the file again with a newer FBX version.
If your FBX model looks plain, its colors or pictures may be stored in separate files. This viewer opens one file at a time and draws only what the file holds.
Files over 150 MB are not opened. Export just the part you need.
If you see a message about 3D, your browser may have WebGL turned off. Try another browser, or turn on hardware acceleration in the browser settings.
Your file stays on your device
The viewer reads your FBX file in the browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the page does not load anything the file points to. The page counts a visit like any other page, but it never sees the file's name or contents.
From a viewer to a finished render
A viewer shows you the model. A render shows you how it could look built. The Inkfinish studio opens FBX files too, lets you pick the angle, and turns that view into a finished image from a short description of materials and light.
Questions
Is this FBX viewer free, and is my file uploaded?
It is free, and you do not need an account. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded, so it stays on your device.
Does this viewer play FBX animation?
No. It shows the model in its first pose. The FBX to GLB converter keeps animation clips in the file it writes, and you can play them in another app.
Why does my FBX look gray?
The pictures are probably saved as separate files, and this viewer does not fetch them. Embed the media when you export, or use the FBX to GLB converter and choose the pictures together with the FBX.
Which FBX versions open?
Binary and text FBX files from common apps open. Very old versions may not. Export the file again with a newer FBX version if yours does not open.
How large a file can I open?
Files up to 150 MB. A very large model may open slowly on a phone or an older computer, so export only the part you need if it struggles.
What does the triangle count tell me?
It is the number of triangles that make up the model's surfaces. A higher count means more detail and more work for the device that draws it.

Make it a finished render
Open the studio and add your FBX file. The studio opens GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, or DAE files. You pick the angle and describe the finish, and Inkfinish renders that view as a finished image.
Try 3 renders free, no sign-up needed: watermarked, at standard size.
