Free GLB Viewer Online

Drop a GLB or glTF file below to turn it, zoom in, and check its size, triangle count, and dimensions. It all happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.

What is a GLB file?

GLB is the single-file form of glTF, a 3D format maintained by the Khronos Group. One GLB holds a model's shapes, materials, and textures, so it is easy to send, store, and open.

The format is made to load quickly, which is why it is common for 3D on the web. You will also meet it in model libraries and in scans of real objects.

A .gltf file is the text version. It often points to a separate .bin file and image files. This viewer opens one file at a time, so a .gltf that depends on other files needs to be exported again as a single .glb.

Which apps export GLB?

Most 3D apps can write glTF. In Blender, choose File, then Export, then glTF 2.0, and set the format to glTF Binary (.glb). Many other modeling and CAD apps list glTF or GLB in their Export or Save As menu, so look there first.

Model libraries and scanning apps often offer GLB as a download too. If an app offers only OBJ, FBX, or STL, you can still open those files in the Inkfinish studio.

How to view a GLB file

Drop the file on the viewer above, or choose it from your device. The model opens in a moment and fills the frame.

Drag to orbit around the model. Scroll or pinch to zoom. Right-drag, or drag with two fingers, to move the view sideways.

The buttons under the viewer jump to a corner, front, side, or top view. Shaded shows the model's own colors and textures. Clay shows the plain shape, which helps when you want to judge the geometry on its own.

Below the buttons you will find the file size, the triangle count, and the size of the box around the model.

What the numbers mean

The triangle count shows how detailed the mesh is. A simple prop may use a few thousand triangles. A scan or a CAD export can use millions. A higher count means more work for the device that draws the model, so if a model feels slow to turn, a lower count usually helps.

Textures often make up most of a GLB's file size. A model with a few large images can be a big file even when its triangle count is low.

The size is the width, height, and depth of the box around the model, in the file's own units. The glTF format defines its units as meters, so a chair that reads 90 units tall was probably exported in centimeters. Use the size to catch scale mistakes before the model goes anywhere else.

Fixing common problems

If the model looks flat or blank, its textures may be stored outside the file. This viewer draws only what the file itself contains. It does not fetch images from other places. Export again with textures embedded, which is the default for a GLB in most apps.

If the file does not open, it may be damaged, or compressed in a way this viewer cannot read, such as KTX2 textures. Draco and Meshopt compression are read. Export the file again without the unsupported compression. Files over 150 MB are not opened. Export just the part you need.

If you see a message about 3D, your browser may have WebGL turned off. Try another browser, or turn on hardware acceleration in the browser settings.

If a model lies on its side, use Turn upright. Some apps treat a different axis as up.

Your file stays on your device

The viewer reads your file in the browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the page does not load anything the file points to. The page counts a visit like any other page, but it never sees the file's name or contents.

From a viewer to a finished render

A viewer shows you the model. A render shows you how it could look built. The Inkfinish studio opens the same file, lets you pick the angle, and turns that view into a finished image from a short description of materials and light.

Questions

What is a GLB file?

A GLB file is a 3D model saved in one piece in the binary form of glTF. It holds the shapes, materials, and textures together, so you can send or open a single file.

Is this GLB viewer free, and is my file uploaded?

It is free, and you do not need an account. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded, so it stays on your device.

Can I open a .gltf file here?

Yes, if the .gltf holds everything in one file. A .gltf that points to a separate .bin file cannot be opened, because this viewer takes one file at a time. Export the model as a .glb instead.

Why does my model look gray or have no textures?

The textures are probably stored outside the file. The viewer draws only what is inside the file and does not fetch images from elsewhere. Export again with the textures embedded.

How large a file can I open?

Files up to 150 MB. A very large model may open slowly on a phone or an older computer, so export only the part you need if it struggles.

What does the triangle count tell me?

It is the number of triangles that make up the model's surfaces. A higher count means more detail and more work for the device that draws it, so it helps you judge whether a model is light enough for your use.

Make it a finished render

Open the studio and add your model file. You pick the angle and describe the finish, and Inkfinish renders that view as a finished image.
