Free 3D Model Viewer Online
Drop a 3D file below to turn it, zoom in, and check its size, triangle count, and dimensions. It reads GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, and DAE files in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
Your files never leave your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Which 3D files can I open?
This viewer opens GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, or DAE files. GLB and glTF are the web's 3D formats, and they hold shapes, materials, and textures. OBJ is a plain exchange format that nearly every app reads. FBX comes from game and animation tools. STL and 3MF are for 3D printing. DAE is COLLADA, an older exchange format used by SketchUp and some game and simulation tools.
Each file opens on its own. A glTF must keep everything in one file, and pictures that an OBJ, FBX, or DAE keeps outside itself are not loaded, so those models show plain.
How to view a 3D model
Drop the file on the viewer above, or choose it from your device. The viewer works out the format from the file's ending.
Drag to orbit around the model, and scroll or pinch to zoom. The Corner, Front, Side, and Top buttons jump to a standard view. Shaded shows the model's own colors. Clay draws a plain light surface, which helps you judge the form on its own.
Some formats disagree about which way is up. STL and 3MF files stand on the Z axis, and the others on Y. If a model lies on its side, press Turn upright.
Which format should I use?
For the web and for AR, use GLB. It keeps shapes, materials, textures, and animation in one file, and web viewers and game engines read it directly.
To move a model between modeling programs, OBJ is the safest choice, with the limit that it carries no animation and keeps colors in a separate file. Use FBX when a skeleton and animation have to travel with the model.
For 3D printing, slicers read STL, and the newer 3MF adds a stated unit and colors. DAE mostly turns up in older assets and in SketchUp exports.
What the numbers mean
The triangle count shows how detailed the surface is. More triangles mean more work for the device that draws the model.
The size is the width, height, and depth of the box around the model, in the file's own numbers. The unit depends on the format. A GLB is always in meters, a DAE has its unit applied to give meters, and a 3MF and an FBX state their own unit, and the viewer shows it beside the size. STL and OBJ files do not say, so check the size against what you expect.
Fixing common problems
If a model looks gray, its pictures are probably stored outside the file, and the viewer draws only what the file holds. Export again with the textures embedded.
If the file does not open, it may be damaged or compressed in a way this viewer cannot read. GLB files that use Draco or Meshopt compression do open. Files over 150 MB are not opened, so export just the part you need.
If you see a message about 3D, your browser may have WebGL turned off. Try another browser, or turn on hardware acceleration in the browser settings.
Your file stays on your device
The viewer reads your file in the browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the page does not load anything the file points to. The page counts a visit like any other page, but it never sees the file's name or contents.
From a viewer to a finished render
A viewer shows you the model. A render shows you how it could look built. The Inkfinish studio opens the same files, lets you pick the angle, and turns that view into a finished image from a short description of materials and light.
Questions
Which 3D file formats does this viewer open?
GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, or DAE. The format is chosen from the file's ending, so a file must be named with the right extension.
Is this 3D model viewer free, and is my file uploaded?
It is free, and you do not need an account. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded, so it stays on your device.
Does it play animation?
No. It shows the model in its first pose. Use it to check shape, size, and detail.
Can I change a file from one format to another?
Yes. The converters on this site change a file between formats in your browser, such as FBX to GLB, GLB to STL, or GLB to USDZ. They are listed at the foot of this page.
Why does my model look gray or have no textures?
The textures are probably stored outside the file. The viewer draws only what is inside the file and does not fetch images from elsewhere. Export again with the textures embedded.
How large a file can I open?
Files up to 150 MB. A very large model may open slowly on a phone or an older computer.

Make it a finished render
Open the studio and add your model file. The studio opens GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, or DAE files. You pick the angle and describe the finish, and Inkfinish renders that view as a finished image.
